Rippling, a leading workforce management platform, has appointed Mrinal Chatterjee, a veteran in the engineering sector, as Senior Vice President of Engineering and Head of its Indian division.
In his new role, Chatterjee will oversee Rippling’s operations in Bengaluru, leading the company’s efforts to drive regional expansion and enhance product offerings, as announced by the company.
With an impressive tenure of over 30 years, Chatterjee has contributed significantly to the engineering sector, having worked with notable companies such as Walmart, Amazon, ShopClues, Contenix, and RowNine, among others.
His previous role as the Vice President for Engineering, Global Marketplace, and Fulfillment Service at Walmart spanned from 2018 to 2024, where he played a pivotal role in the company’s global marketplace strategy.
Before his tenure at Walmart, Chatterjee served as the Technology Director at Amazon India Payments, further showcasing his expertise and leadership in the industry.
Parker Conrad, the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Rippling, has expressed confidence in Chatterjee’s capabilities, stating that his appointment is crucial as the company expands its presence in the Indian market and beyond, aiming to enhance its engineering, support, and sales operations to accommodate this growth.
This strategic move comes when the San Francisco-headquartered company has recently secured a substantial funding of $200 million, valuing the company at an impressive $13.5 billion. The company’s investors include prominent entities such as Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock.
This appointment is in line with Rippling’s strategy to allocate the newly acquired funds towards the expansion of its Indian workforce across various departments, underscoring the company’s commitment to innovation and growth.
In 2018, Rippling marked a significant milestone by establishing its first India-based office, and since then, it has achieved remarkable growth, quadrupling its workforce in the country to over 500 employees across diverse divisions.
By 2022, Rippling had achieved a valuation of $11.25 billion, positioning itself as a decacorn in the HRtech industry.
Founded by Prasanna Sankar and Parker Conrad in 2016, Rippling is at the forefront of streamlining business operations through its comprehensive platform, offering solutions across a wide range of sectors, including technology, retail, manufacturing, and healthcare.

According to a report, the HRtech market in India has reached a size of $1.4 billion in 2023, with projections indicating a substantial increase to $2.1 billion by 2032, demonstrating a growth rate of 8.3% over the 2024-2032 period.
