Edtech giant PhysicsWallah has recently announced the launch of its ‘PW School of Startups’ initiative and the establishment of a $5 million fund aimed at supporting over 100 startups.

According to the company, the PW SOS initiative will serve as a comprehensive platform for entrepreneurs, offering access to cost-effective ideation programs, practical training, mentorship opportunities, and capital-raising avenues.

The initiative will feature three distinct programs: Aarambh, Prarambh, and Hopes Alive, each uniquely designed to cater to various stages of an entrepreneurial journey.

Aarambh, a 5-day offline program, is specifically tailored for students from school to college and early professionals, providing them with access to essential resources, valuable networks, and expert advice.

Prarambh, an extensive 5-month offline program, is designed for college students, early professionals, small family business owners, and second-generation entrepreneurs, offering comprehensive training and support.

Hopes Alive, the initiative’s free program, is a 5-month hybrid program aimed at seed-funded or bootstrapped startups from across India and various other sectors and domains.

Pandey commented on the initiative, “I believe that progressing Bharat’s startup ecosystem can significantly contribute to our nation’s economic growth and see immense potential in the startups emerging from Tier 2 and 3 cities. These aspiring entrepreneurs possess incredible business ideas but often struggle due to a lack of guidance and the absence of a supportive community.”

Established in 2020 by Alakh Pandey and Prateek Maheshwari, PhysicsWallah achieved unicorn status in 2022 following its successful fundraising round of $100 million from Westbridge and GSV Ventures. Since its inception, the company has been expanding its portfolio by venturing into the offline space and acquiring several startups and companies.

The edtech unicorn offers a wide range of services, including live courses for JEE and NEET across verticals such as Gurukulam Schools, test preparation in over 43 categories, skill development, higher education, and study abroad programs.

The company competes with other leading edtech platforms such as BYJU’S, Vedantu, Unacademy, and Allen.
