An application programming interface (API) is a set of protocols and tools that allows two or more computer programs or components to communicate with each other. It refers to a software interface, offering a service to other pieces of software. API integration is an important part of modern software architecture. Leveraging its services provides businesses with various perks such as enhancing customer experience, amplifying connectivity, data collection for analysis, supercharge innovation, and saving money. However, there are many challenges associated with API development like security risks, complex processes, data incompatibility, time consumption, and authentication and authorization.
The above-mentioned challenges are what the startup founded by Abhinav Asthana, Ankit Sobti, and Abhijit Kane solves. Founded in 2014, PostMan is the world’s leading API platform. The San Francisco-headquartered firm features simplify each step of building an API and streamline collaboration to help create better APIs—faster. What started as a side project to solve a specific problem is now a site that is used by more than 30 million developers and 500,000 organizations across the globe.
