Peak XV Leads as Top Active Investor in Indian Startups Ecosystem, According to Hurun India Index Report

Hurun India Future Unicorn Index, an index that tracks the startups likely to become unicorns i.e. touching a valuation of $1B in the coming years, has recently shared the list of top 10 investors in India.

According to Hurun India, Peak XV (formerly known as Sequoia Capital India and SEA) leads the list with 47 investments made, some of its recent notable investments are in CleverTap and Turtlemint. Peak XV has brought ten new gazelles and cheetahs(startups having the potential of building a unicorn in the next 2-3 and 5 years respectively) under its cover this year.

Accel was 2nd on the list with a total of 25 investments, its main investments being in startups like Money View, Ninjacart, and Stanza Living. Tiger Global Management, which has made very less investments this year remained on the third position. Trifecta Capital Advisors improved its rank by three positions with 4 new investments. Blume Ventures concluded the Top 5 list of investors in India.

InnoVen Capital has dropped down to 4 places ranked 6 in the latest index shared by the Hurun Research Institute. It has opted out of 8 investments this year. Eight Road Ventures stands at 8th position. It has made 3 new investments this year. Some of its noticeable investments include Shadowfax, SaaS Labs, and Toothsi. Alteria Capital is placed in 9th position in the list having made no new investments this year.

New to the List

Elevation Capital had good news coming with the release of the index as it entered the list of Top 10 investors for the first time. It has currently invested in 15 startups, some worth-mentioning startups are Chaayos and Country Delight. Lightspeed Venture Partners being the other new entrant concluded the list. The multi-stage venture capital firm have invested in 12 startups. Classplus and Pocket FM are a few of them.
