JCB Salons India, a leading salon chain, has successfully raised Rs 40 crore ($4.8 million) from alternative credit platform Blacksoil to fuel its strategic expansion plans. The funding will be utilized primarily for acquiring Spalon, a prominent salon chain in South India, as well as for working capital and operational enhancements.
Established in 2006, JCB Salons currently operates 18 salons across Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru, serving approximately 1,500 customers per month. With a global presence spanning 20 countries and 400 salons and spas, the company aims to strengthen its footprint in the West and South India markets through the acquisition of Spalon.
Following the funding, the joint entity aims to leverage JCB’s expertise and Spalon’s market insights to capitalize on the lucrative opportunities in the Indian salon industry.
In the financial year 2023, JCB Salons witnessed a significant increase in operating revenue, reaching Rs 50.66 crore, along with achieving profitability, marking a notable turnaround from the previous fiscal year.
Industry projections suggest robust growth prospects for the Indian beauty market, with an estimated valuation of approximately $580 billion by 2027, growing at a steady rate of 6% annually.
This strategic funding round reflects the growing trend of legacy businesses securing investments from institutional investors to fuel expansion and capitalize on evolving market dynamics.
