Tata Motors to Launch Avinya as Multi-Model Electric Car Brand

Tata Motors is set to revolutionize the electric vehicle market with the launch of its Avinya brand, under which multiple electric car models will be introduced. The move marks a significant shift from the initial plan of launching Avinya as a single vehicle, according to Auto Car India. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, confirmed this development.

The Avinya concept, showcased in April 2022, derives its name from the Sanskrit word for ‘Innovation’. Tata Motors envisions the Avinya brand as an uncompromising vision for electric mobility. The concept car, originally inspired by a catamaran, blends the features of a premium hatch, the luxuries of an SUV, and the spaciousness of an MPV into a unique and innovative vehicle.

One of the standout features of the Avinya is its design, which emphasizes a new identity through the distinctive DRL at the front and rear. This design element reflects Tata’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life and marks a pivotal step in the evolution of electric vehicles. The vehicle also boasts ‘Butterfly’ doors, which open to reveal a class-leading spacious interior designed to create a stress-free environment by minimizing screen time.

Developed in India with a global perspective, the Avinya platform offers high structural safety, next-level waterproofing, and dust protection, making it suitable for various terrains. The architecture incorporates next-gen materials, efficient electronic components, and proprietary energy management strategies to enhance efficiency. The use of lightweight materials and an optimized structure for an EV-only powertrain ensures good weight management and overall mass reduction.

The Avinya’s battery supports ultra-fast charging capabilities, promising a minimum range of 500 kilometers in under 30 minutes. This aligns with the evolving infrastructure and reinforces the brand’s philosophy of ‘Minimize-Maximize-Optimize’ for enhanced range and efficiency.

As Tata Motors prepares to launch the Avinya brand by 2025, the company’s strategic pivot to a multi-model electric car brand signifies its ambition to lead in the electric mobility space, offering innovative and versatile solutions to consumers globally.
