Chief Product Officer Chris Cox was sent to London in place of Mark Zuckerberg when he was invited to present evidence in UK Parliament. Mark Zuckerberg failed to come to London to present evidence in UK Parliament about Facebook’s part in Cambridge Analytica scandal. He was invited on Monday by a letter to present evidence about Facebook’s part. Last week, Mark Zuckerberg stated that he would be happy to present an evidence in front of Congress in the US. But, he would not be doing same in the UK Parliament. Facebook offered up Chief Product Officer Chris Cox or Chief Technology Officer Mike Schroefper in place of Mark Zuckerberg to attend UK Parliament. Damian Collins, Chairperson of the Digital, Media, Sports and Culture Committee wrote to Zuckerberg last week. In the letter, Collins asked Zuckerberg to attend the committee and be a part of Parliament’s discussion and enquiry into the Cambridge Analytica Scandal news. The evidence was already presented by Facebook as a part of such enquiry in a discussion in Washington DC in February. But, Collins was left unsatisfied by the discussion. He was not happy with company’s representatives as the personal data of users had been misused.
So, he requested further evidence from the side of Facebook following the disclosure that personal data of 50 million Facebook users was misused by data consultancy firm Cambridge Analytica. It was a firm which was working for Donald Trump’s Presidential election campaign.
Collins wants to hear from Zuckerberg
According to Collins, its the time to hear something from the CEO of Facebook. Mark must provide some evidence as the part of Facebook for the misused data of its users. Collins also commented on Mark’s statement which he made at the beginning of the New Year to fix Facebook. So, the representative who committed to fix Facebook must now be on his words. Though Mark Zuckerberg rejected invitation, Collins still believes that the evidence must be presented by the senior executive of Facebook to the committee. Collins is happy to welcome Mr Cox who is coming in place of Mark, but he still wants to hear from Mark Zuckerberg himself. He would try to get the evidence from Zuckerberg himself either meeting him or via video call.
