Staying focused all the time is a difficult task, and focus is directly proportional to productivity. I mean, if you want to increase productivity, you must improve your focus. And to get that next level of stress, you must remove distractions around you. In today’s lifestyle, there are tons of things trying to kill your attention.
I usually try to find out how I can increase my productivity or attention. One day I read about one simple trick used by influential and successful personalities like Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos. I’ll come to that point.
So, I’m a morning person. If you don’t know, a morning person is someone who loves to work in the early morning.
But trust me, waking up and starting work makes you lazy, and you start feeling tired before the afternoon. And this way, you just waste your entire day doing nothing or very little. The same thing used to happen to me. I used to work only 3-4 hours, and the rest of the day was useless.
This was my daily routine before I came to know about this simple trick.
Do something Else First.
Yes, you read it right. To be focused all day, you must do something else first. This sounds rubbish but believes me; it’s not. In fact, Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates use the same trick.
For instance, Bill Gates doesn’t start his day with official work. He watches educational DVDs while doing exercise. Jeff Bezos doesn’t go for any official meeting before 10 AM. He prefers doing other activities at home first.
And that’s my point too. You must give time to yourself. I’m not saying you must wake up at 4 AM and start running. You also don’t need to copy exactly what Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos do.
That something else for you can be different. It may be walking, sitting under a tree, playing with kids or pets, or just doing nothing. You can read books, do meditation, yoga, or anything, but only if you love to. It’s entirely your choice of what you want to do. But make sure you don’t rush to your work table before you do anything else.
What Will Happen By Doing This?
Now, you have a clear idea of what “something else” means. But there is still a big question: what will happen or change by doing so? Or, How can it increase productivity?
See, when you wake up, your body and mind is already slow. Your mind needs time to be active. But if you don’t give your mind that time, you’ll start feeling low within 2-3 hours.
So, you must do anything that doesn’t need much attention. Do something that makes you feel light and happy.
By doing so, you will start your day with positive energy and also with a fresh mind.
