Google Assistant: No longer needs to say “Ok Google” or “Hey Google”

Every person who has used Google Assistant has been impressed but one criterion has let them down. Every now and then people have to say “Ok Google” to activate the Assistance for listening. But, Google has improved its assistance to be more natural than ever before. The users would no longer have to say “OK Google” or “Hey Google” before speaking anything to the assistance. In the May conference, Google promised it will come up with a solution to that and they have done it.

Here’s How Google Has Improved Its Assistance To Be More Natural

People can now talk to the Assistant directly without having to say any startup sentence. This feature will work as long as the ‘Continued Conversation’ is switched on. Once that is done, the assistance can listen to any query without a wake-up call. However, the assistance still needs a wakeup call at the beginning but later on, it can continue without further calls. The feature shuts down automatically after eight seconds of inactivity to prevent any false statement being taken as a command. But the features are, even more, better since it can be stopped easily. The person can shut down the conversation by saying “Thanks Google”, “Thank You” or “I’m Done”. Google Assistant will take these commands at the end of the conversation and stop Continued Conversation Mode. After these commands are issued, the assistance needs to be reawakened for further dealing.

However, for security reasons, Continued Conversation does not work when the device is being used as a playing media, phone call or when the timer goes off. The feature is relatively easy to be enabled. The user can toggle it on by simply turning it on using their smartphone assistant apps or directly from Home.

How To Turn On The Feature

If a person wants to turn the Continue Conversation feature from the Home App, follow the steps below:

  1. Tap on the device icon present on the upper right corner of the main screen.
  2. Click on the three vertical dots on the top right corner.
  3. Click on Settings, More and then on to Preferences and finally select Continued Conversation to turn it on.

If someone wants to turn it on using Assistance app, follow the below steps:

  1. Click on the Menu icon present on the top right corner.
  2. Click on Settings select Menu and then Preferences.
  3. Select Continued Conversation and turn it on.

The update from Google might seem simple for most of the users wondering the specialty of it. But, the users who are using the assistance actually feel it as quite useful. Most of the people might end up getting irritated due to saying “OK Google” repeatedly for every command but now they can be free. Once they wake up the Assistant, it will continue to listen to the instructions without any special wake-up word. However, for safety, the assistance will shut down automatically after a duration of 8 seconds of inactivity. But, as Google promised they will improve the feature, they surely have done it and it looks good.
