Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s Go Digit Investment Soars 4x on Market Debut

Go Digit General Insurance‘s stock market debut on May 23 has delivered significant returns for investors, including celebrity couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma. The pair, who invested in the insurer in February 2020, have seen their investment grow four-fold.

According to the company’s red herring prospectus, cricket star Virat Kohli purchased 266,667 shares at Rs 75 each, amounting to Rs 2 crore, while actor Anushka Sharma acquired 66,667 shares for Rs 50 lakh. Their combined investment totaled Rs 2.5 crore.

With the share price now exceeding Rs 300 per share, Kohli’s investment has surged to Rs 8 crore, and Sharma’s to Rs 2 crore, making their combined shares worth Rs 10 crore.

Go Digit General Insurance, backed by Canada-based Fairfax, listed its shares on Thursday with a premium of over 5% against the issue price of Rs 272. The stock began trading at Rs 281.10 on the BSE, up 3.34% from the issue price. It climbed as high as Rs 314 during the day and ended at Rs 305.75, up 12.40%.

On the NSE, the stock listed at Rs 286, reflecting a 5.14% jump, and ended at Rs 305.65, up 12.37%. The company’s market valuation stood at Rs 28,043.46 crore.

The successful IPO highlights Go Digit’s strong market presence and investor confidence, further cementing its status in the insurance sector.
