Samsung has been working on bendable OLED display since many years. Back in 2012, the company first unleashed a prototype of its technology. Thereafter, Samsung has also been testing dual-screen smartphones. It surely wants to bring some innovation in the smartphone market. Koh did not give too many hints to expect from Samsung’s foldable device. But, he believes that the device and its feature will surely please its consumers. Consumers will get a full proof reason to go with this foldable smartphone.
Back in 2014, Samsung came up with a concept ad for a potential foldable smartphone. The ad featured a device having foldable display that could be folded from a large sized(tablet-like) to a pocket-sized phone. Earlier this year, The Wall Street Journal reported that the device will feature a 7-inch single display. The huge 7-inch sized will turn into a pocket-sized smartphone. Isn’t this amazing?
The foldable display will fold similar to a wallet in half. The exterior of the device will display some information such as notifications. But, Samsung isn’t the only company working on this technology. Lenovo is also trying to develop foldable phones and tablets. Microsoft has been trying to develop a dual-screen Surface device for years. Earlier this year, LG announced a foldable 65-inch OLED TV.
In the future, foldable devices will dominate the smartphone market. If any company succeeds to develop such a smartphone, other companies will surely reuse this technology. Though Samsung succeeds in its plan of bendable smartphones, it will face competition in the market.
