For many of the Apple users, Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S would have been top models ever made by Apple. They are of the perfect screen size and are easy to use. But reports have shown that Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S are the worst phones ever made by the company. According to the “State Of Mobile Device Repair & Security”, a report has emerged. The report says that iPhone 6 has a failure rate of 22 percentile. Surprisingly, it tops the list of Apple failure rate for its devices. iPhone 6S comes in the second position with the failure rate of 16 percentile.
When compared with other iPhone models, it is significantly higher. Every other iPhone model ever made has a failure rate in single digits. iPhone 8 and iPhone X which are the latest models have a failure rate of just 3%. Comparing with the numbers, Apple iPhone 6’s failure rate is nearly 8 times that of iPhone 8 and iPhone X. iPhone 5S also has a failure rate of around 3 percentile, making it the most reliable phone ever made by the company.
iPhone 6 – Failure Model?
Such a high failure rate for iPhone 6 meant that every 1 in 5 devices required repairs or replacement of their device. And also with the latest iOS update, the battery of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S were affected. This caused the failure rate to increase more due to replacement and repairs. Another reason for such a high failure rate for the 6 series is due to the iOS 12 throttling issue. It caused the phone’s battery to chemically depleted and ended up crashing the device. Other minor issues which were the reasons were Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Mobile Data and Headset.
But, Apple has worked on it. The failure rate was significantly improved. iPhone 6S had a failure rate of 16 percentile. Further, iPhone 7 had just 8 percentile failure rate. Finally, with the latest devices in the market, Apple sees only 3 percentile failure rate for their devices.
Apple’s Comparison With Android Devices
When the Apple devices were compared with Android devices, they seemed to be well above them. Samsung, one of the leading developer of Android devices in the world has an overall failure rate of 27.4 percentile. The average rate is higher than the Apple’s worst iPhone ever. This comparison shows the reliability of Apple devices. iPhone 6 was released approximately 4 years ago and still has a better failure rate than the average for the whole company.
Further, when the OS version of the devices was tested, Apple was again way ahead of the Android devices. Blanco’s research showed that around 74 percentile of Apple devices run on iOS 11 which was released last year. An additional 17 percentile runs on iOS 10 which was released around 1 and a half year back. But, when the Android phones were examined, the reports were poor. Around 50 percentile of the Android devices run on Android Nougat which is a four-year-old OS. The reports were formed by examining the devices which were brought under the company’s testing unit. Hence it cannot be accurate for the entire world still it gives us a pretty good ratio between the iPhone and Android devices.
