Wondering how to move photos from Gmail to Google photos? We are here to help you with that.

Despite the emergence of WhatsApp as the primary messaging app, people are still using emails and will go on using them for a long long time.

And why not? Emails are professional and safer than WhatsApp and you don’t have to share your contact number with anyone for receiving a file on email. That being said, the issue arises when you can’t move photos from Gmail to Google Photos.

Remember that your Gmail uses 15 GB Google Drive storage to store the attachments that come along with emails. So if you don’t move the photos from Gmail to Google photos, you may soon run out of the free space.

But since there is no direct method to do this, it can be a bit tricky for some people. Read on to know how to deal with this issue.

Alright. Since we already know that there is no direct method available to move photos from Gmail to Google Photos, we will take the first long route.

And the first step involves uploading the photos to your Google drive. That’s right. Upload them to your Google Drive first and then move the photos from Google Drive to Google Photos.

Since Google Photos provides us with unlimited space for as many photos as we want, you can upload your photos without having to worry about the space.

Once you have transferred the photos to Google Photos, delete them from your Google Drive to save the storage space. Follow the steps given below.

Steps:

1- Open the email and click on ‘Save to Drive’ icon next to the photos. You can locate the icon right next to the ‘download’ icon on the photo.
2- Now open photos.google.com and log in.
3- Click on the upload button and select Google Drive from the option.
4- Now select all the photos you want to upload to Google photos.
5- Now you can delete those photos from your Google Drive. Just open drive.google.com and delete the photos to free up some space from the storage.

It’s a bit long and time taking process but will get your work done successfully. Follow the steps to move photos from your email to Google Photos.

Step 1: Open the email containing the photos that you wish to download.

Step 2: Now click on ‘Download all attachments’ to download the photos on your PC. A ZIP file will be downloaded on your PC. You can save each and every photo manually as well.

Step 3: Now open photos.google.com and click on ‘Upload’. You can navigate to the downloaded photos on your PC and add them to Google Photos.

We know how to deal with the situation on PC. But if you don’t have one? Not everyone has a PC to go through their emails. And most people, students specifically, use their mobile phones.

So if you are one of those, then don’t worry. Here are the steps to move photos from Email to Google Photos on your phone.

First of all, open the Email from which you want to download the photos. Now tap on the photo and select ‘Share’ from the menu. Use this option to directly save all the photos on Google photos.

If you have an Email other than Gmail, you have to add photos by downloading them on your device first.

Open the Email and download all the required photos on your phone. Now open the gallery app on your phone and select the photos you want to move and click on the share icon. Select Google Photos and all the images will be uploaded on the app.

For those who use Google Photos as their primary gallery app, just open the app and backup all the selected photos.

On iPhone

For iPhone users, launch the Email app first of all and go the required Email from where you have to download the images.

Once you have downloaded all the photos on your phone, open Google Photos app and tap on the backup icon. All your photos are safely in Google Photos now.

So there you go. Now go and upload your photos downloaded from Email to Google Photos successfully, without any hassle.

Until next time!
