Google announces roll out of Google Lens on AR-enabled Android phones with Google Photos

‘Google Lens’ is a machine learning-powered image analyzer which emerged in May 2017. It was earlier available only on Pixel and Pixel 2 smartphones, is now available on all the smartphone devices and tablets that have Google Photos. It may also make an evidence in iOS according to some reports. Google Lens comes with supernatural features. This app is one of the best camera apps which is capable of doing everything. You can scan a router code, identify landmark or location from any of your pictures, to connect with Google Assistant anytime you desire. It will be available with Google Photos very soon to all English-language users. Also, Lens in Assistant will be made available to “compatible flagship devices” very soon. Company said that they are working on the functionalities and improvements in Lens and will add support for most of the devices very soon.

New Features

With the functionality improvements, Lens will soon be able to identify some common birds, animals and plants. Lens will be using ARCore technology to discover more functionalities such as visualizing virtual objects and check how will they look if they are present physically. Such as, you can check how a paint would look in your room, or how a decor will add up to your room. Some other features such as scanning a business card will create a contact on your phone. You can check the official announcement made by Google. From the official Twitter account of Google photos, Lens would be available for most of the devices within the next few days as long as you have the latest version of Google Photos. But, they also added that some Android phone will have to wait for Lens yet.

• Latest version of Google Photos

If you have Google Photos updated on your Android device but lack any of the above requirements, you may not be able to use Lens yet. The update for Lens will roll out in groups and hence you may not be immediately made available with it. Be patient and wait for the roll out.

Company announced that they are working on the roll out for most of the devices in the upcoming few days. But, as the roll out will be made in groups, you may have to wait for your chance to have Lens in your smartphone.
