Instagram Expands Creator Marketplace to 10 New Countries

Instagram made waves over the weekend with its announcement of the expansion of its creator marketplace to 10 additional countries. This marketplace serves as a nexus for brands and creators, facilitating collaborations and partnerships. 

The newly included regions comprise South Korea, Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain, Israel, Turkey, Mexico, Argentina, and Indonesia.

Meta, the parent company of Instagram, initially introduced the marketplace to enable paid partnerships exclusively within the USA for select users in 2022. Since then, Meta has broadened its scope, adding “thousands” of creators and brands. 

In February, the feature was extended to eight new markets, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Japan, India, and Brazil.

Despite Instagram’s unavailability in China for creators, Meta permits China-based brands to engage with creators in regions where the marketplace operates.

To participate in the program, creators must be at least 18 years old, possess a professional account, and fulfill the social network’s criteria, including maintaining a “significant following.” Meta does not specify the exact number of followers required to meet these criteria.

Upon joining the program via the professional dashboard, creators can delineate topics of interest and relevant brands to enhance their discoverability by companies. Additionally, creators can monitor inbound collaboration requests through the “partnership messages” inbox.

Various social networks, such as Snap, YouTube, and TikTok, have intensified their efforts to facilitate connections between brands and creators.

Recently, the photo editing app VSCO launched its marketplace for brands to identify professional photographers for collaboration. 

In addition, startups like Catch+Release and Agentio have endeavored to streamline brand/creator interactions, receiving backing from notable venture capital firms like Accel and Craft Ventures.
