Probably the greatest inventor of the past decade, Billionaire Elon Musk during The Boring Company Information Session spoke a lot other than the flamethrowers. Elon Musk is trying to curb down the traffic level in the cities with its new ideas. The session which lasted nearly an hour, Elon Musk along with the project leader Steve Davis discussed the possibilities of their vision. “Nearly every city in this world is facing the problem of traffic on their roads which is too annoying and also polluting the Earth”, Elon Musk said in the session addressing the crowd. They proposed a model of building a network of 30 feet down channels which will start with 2.7 miles, proof of concept. Elon Musk earlier this week re-tweeted a tweet by the Los Angeles Metro Department that they have been working with The Boring Company to improve their underground transport system. Musk is planning to build as many tunnels for underground transit in the cities to destroy traffic on the roads.
The Boring Company team has started working towards making the tunnels at a speed of 0.003 MPH per day inside the SpaceX property but Elon Musk is not happy with the speed. Recently he tweeted an emoji of snail indicated that the speed is very slow. Davis said that Elon Musk has challenged the team to achieve at least 1/10th of the average walking speed of a human which compares to a speed of approximately 0.3 MPH per day. The reason for the slow down in drilling process is the problem of removing the dirt every now and then instead of continuously drilling. Musk has proposed the solutions to these problems by selling bricks or life-size Lego Blocks.
The model of the tunnels is slightly different than the traditional existing tunnels. Musk has proposed a system of few main tunnels which connects together using the connecting tunnels. Instead of the large subway stations, the proposed system will have micro stations which will be the size of a parking space. One train cannot go past the other train in the subway system hence the train has to stop at every other station. But the model is designed as a highway with many interconnecting loops hence favors simultaneous movement of the trains within it.

Elon Musk has already started with test runs within the loops built in the SpaceX property. Test runs clocked the speed of a couple of hundred miles per hour. A hyperloop within the city could use pressurized carts which will travel at a speed of 300 MPH and within the city at a speed of 150 MPH. A few months ago, Musk posted a video of the proposed model on twitter which shows a small enclosed vehicle going underground and traveling at 200 MPH. Musk has stated that the company will respect Los Angeles planning laws and obtain permits for developing a test section within the city. The most shocking part of all this is, Musk has stated that this service will be available at the cheapest price of $1. “It will be like a weird Disney Ride inside the LA and we think we can make it really fun”, Elon Musk concluded.
